POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Graphic Design & Digital Content plays an integral role in shaping and executing the conference's visual identity across digital, social, and event platforms. This position is responsible for developing impactful creative content that drives fan engagement, supports championship events, sport-specific marketing efforts, and strengthens the conference brand. This position will collaborate closely with the Senior Director of Brand Marketing and social media team to produce graphics, content, digital campaigns, and event visuals while supporting broader strategic communications and marketing initiatives.

Location: Position is based in Irving, Texas
Travel: Regular travel required, including nights and weekends during peak seasons and championships
Supervisory scope: Individual Contributor

Reports to: Senior Director of Brand Marketing
Key partners: Conference staff; member institution digital and content teams; championship operations
THE ROLE AND CANDIDATE PROFILE
The conference seeks a highly creative and detail-oriented design professional who can bring the conference brand to life through compelling graphic design and digital content. The ideal candidate will possess strong design fundamentals, a passion for sports, and the ability to create impactful creative assets across digital, social, print, and event platforms. This individual will be responsible for developing a wide range of creative materials, including social media graphics, logos, print collateral, championship signage, and other promotional assets that support conference marketing initiatives. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects simultaneously, collaborate with conference staff and member institutions, and contribute to creative strategies that drive fan engagement and brand awareness. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign is essential as well as experience creating content for social media, digital marketing, and print production. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, collaborative, and energized by working in a fast-paced collegiate athletics environment. Periodic travel and weekend work are required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design & Content Development
Design and produce digital, print, and environmental graphics that support conference branding, marketing, communications, championships, and special events.
Develop creative assets for social media, websites, digital marketing, advertising campaigns, and sponsor fulfillment.
Create logos and visual identity systems for conference initiatives, championships, and special projects.
Design print materials including signage, credentials, promotional collateral, and event branding elements.
Brand Management
Maintain and uphold conference brand standards across all creative executions.
Ensure consistency in visual identity across conference communications, championship events, and member institution collaborations.
Assist with the development of conference branding initiatives and creative campaigns.
Championship & Event Support
Serve as the primary creative lead for assigned conference championships and events, overseeing the development of event branding, marketing assets, signage, social content, and game presentation graphics.
Support on-site event operations and creative execution as needed.
Coordinate with external vendors on production, printing, installation, and delivery of creative assets.
Social Media & Digital Marketing Support
Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop content that drives fan engagement and audience growth.
Create graphics and visual content that support social media content calendars and promotional campaigns
Draft and publish social media content aligned with conference voice and publishing standards as needed.
Support content creation efforts during live events and championships.
Collaboration & Project Management
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Work closely with conference staff, member institutions, sponsors, and external partners on creative requests and campaign development.
Participate in creative brainstorming, campaign planning, and content strategy discussions.
Maintain organized project files and creative asset libraries.
Governance & Compliance
Maintain working knowledge of NCAA and conference compliance issues that impact marketing and branding matters.
Assist with conference-wide initiatives and duties as assigned by the Senior Director.

Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field
Two (2) or more years of experience in graphic design in a collegiate sports setting or related field
A strong portfolio that demonstrates conceptual thinking and a clear understanding of typographic, layout, color, imagery, and composition.
Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign. After Effects and Premiere Pro are a plus.
Experience designing logos and brand identities.
Knowledge of print production specifications and vendor management.
Understanding of social media design best practices and platform-specific creative.
Experience in collegiate athletics, professional sports, or sports marketing environments.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Working understanding of AI tools and emerging creative technologies.
