Location: Driscoll Physical and Sports Therapy – Southside Outpatient Clinic
Schedule: Our outpatient clinic operates Monday through Friday from 7:00am-6:00pm. The candidate will have the flexibility to choose a schedule that suits their 40-hour week, whether it's five 8-hour days, four 10-hour days, or another variation. Enjoy a work-life balance with no weekend shifts and no on-call duties.
Position Overview:
At Driscoll Children's Hospital, our goal is to provide high-quality, efficient care to pediatric and adolescent members of our community. The Sports Physical Therapist plays a key role in delivering exceptional outpatient sports medicine services to athletes and active individuals, with a primary focus on middle school and high school-aged patients.
Working in a fast-faced clinical environment, the Sports Physical Therapist evaluates and treats orthopedic and sports-related injuries through individualized, one-on-one sessions. As a licensed therapist, they develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans designed to restore function, reduce pain, prevent future injury, optimize athletic performance, and support a safe return to sport and recreational activities.
The Sports Physical Therapist collaborates closely with physicians, athletic trainers, coaches, parents, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care. Through effective communication and interdisciplinary teamwork, they help patients achieve their goals and return to the activities they enjoy safely and confidently.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and treat athletes and active individuals with orthopedic and sports-related injuries.
- Develop individualized rehabilitation programs focused on return-to-sport and return-to-activity goals.
- Perform functional movement assessments, strength testing, and sport-specific evaluations.
- Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Implement evidence-based treatment interventions for acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
- Develop injury prevention and performance enhancement programs.
- Provide education regarding injury prevention, biomechanics, conditioning, and safe return-to-play progression.
- Utilize objective outcome measures and return-to-sport testing to determine readiness for athletic participation.
- Participate in community outreach activities, sports screenings, and athletic events as assigned.
- Maintain current knowledge of sports medicine, orthopedic rehabilitation, and evidence-based practice standards.

Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy.
- Current Texas licensure as a Physical Therapist.
- Current CPR Certification or completion within 90 days of hire.
Preferred:
- Experience treating orthopedic and sports medicine populations.
- Experience working with pediatric, adolescent, and young adult athletes.
- Certification or advanced training in sports rehabilitation, orthopedic physical therapy, dry needling, concussion management, or related specialty areas.
